The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities a full-time candidate to start as soon as possible for an initial term of two years

 

Digital Humanities Specialist

 

Responsibilities include developing software solutions to support research projects within Academies' Programme the field of digital humanities, for example in the areas of eXist-DB, XML, and XQuery. Another focus is on digital editions and visual data presentation, as well as collaborating with researchers from various disciplines to develop research questions and design digital methods as part of project consulting and implementation.

 

This is what sets you apart:

  • a relevant degree in digital humanities(at least a master’s degree) and several years of professional experience, or a comparable qualification

  • Knowledge of current web technologies and experience with web development and AI

  • solid knowledge of various programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, XQuery, XSLT)

  • Knowledge of XML (e.g., TEI-XML, eXist-DB, XML editors) and Linux

  • strong teamwork skills

  • Relevant experience in project work and technical support in securing external funding

  • Experience working with research data in the field of digital humanities and research data management.
