Research Projects in the Academies Program

The goal of the research center is to reconstruct the spatio-temporal migrations of hominids in the period between 3 million and 20,000 years ago.

The research center collects, catalogs, and edits letters written by leading theologians and church leaders during the period between the Peace of Augsburg and the Thirty Years’ War.

The goal is to make available and publish a comprehensive collection of documents and texts on the history of religion and law in premodern Nepal.

In order to shed light on and do justice to the far-reaching interconnection of Jaspers’ thought — as revealed by his published works, archival papers, and extensive correspondence — a complete edition of his works is being prepared, which both situates all relevant texts within their context and makes them available as a systematically interrelated whole.

The purpose of the commentaries is, on the one hand, to analyze these texts—which are generally difficult to understand—from every possible perspective and, on the other hand, where possible, to attempt a reconstruction of the works and to place the authors within the context of literary history.

Aufgabe der im Jahr 2005 eingerichteten Forschungsstelle ist eine vollständige und systematische Dokumentation dieser teilweise erst in den letzten Jahren wieder entdeckten Steinschriften.

The humanist Philipp Melanchthon was Luther’s most important and closest collaborator in the introduction of the Reformation. His approximately 9,800 surviving letters are fundamental to research on the history of the Early Modern period.
