Accessibility Statement

The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities is committed to making its websites accessible in accordance with Section 10 (1) of the State Disability Equality Act (L-BGG). As the complete implementation of the content is a complex process, this will take some time.

This accessibility statement applies to the website of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (www.hadw-bw.de) and the website of the Friends of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (https://foerderverein.hadw-bw.de).

1. Status of compliance with requirements

These websites are partially compliant with Section 10(1) of the L-BGG due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

2. Non-accessible content
  • In some cases, PDFs, brochures, or information sheets are not completely accessible, as numerous files need to be adapted.
  • Alternative texts for images and graphics are not always meaningful.
  • HTML structural elements for headings, lists, and tables, as well as paragraphs in search results, are sometimes not marked up correctly.
  • Keyboard focus and focus order are not fully accessible.
  • Personal preferences in browser settings (e.g., font size, contrast, etc.) may not be taken into account.
  • Attributes for text elements in other languages on the pages are not always marked up.
  • The content still needs to be adapted for use in German sign language.

We are working to remove the existing barriers as quickly as possible.

3. Creation of this accessibility statement

This statement was first issued on June 15, 2022, based on an assessment by the Media Accessibility Monitoring Agency of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The statements regarding compliance with accessibility requirements in this declaration are based on a self-assessment.

The statement was last reviewed on March 2, 2026. We will revise it soon due to upcoming developments.
