Research projects
In 2002, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities its WIN Research Group with financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MWK) of Baden-Württemberg. It is part of the Young Academy | HAdW. The goal is to support outstanding young researchers by funding interdisciplinary working groups. The Academy also promotes networking with outstanding researchers in the state, thereby contributing to the members’ connection to and identification with Baden-Württemberg as a center of research. In this context, members of the Young Academy in the WIN-Kolleg are directly integrated into the Academy’s program over an extended period and participate in its development.
In the WIN-Kolleg’s working groups, the recipients gain early in their careers the experience of how fruitful the encounter with other disciplines and collaboration across disciplinary boundaries can be. It is part of the WIN-Kolleg’s concept that the groups work very independently, thereby acquiring skills that are essential for appointment to a full professorship. To date, 32 projects across seven research priorities have been successfully completed; currently, six additional projects across two research priorities are being funded.
