Academic semester 2026/27

The Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities both a non-university research institution and a scholarly society. A key pillar of the Academy is its sponsorship of long-term research projects withinthe Academies’ Program(external link). These projects have a duration of 12 to a maximum of 25 years. They are situated in the field of basic research in the humanities, historical jurisprudence, and the economic and social sciences.

To assist with the preparation of grant applications, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities is announcing the“Academy Semester” Academy of Sciences and Humanities the 2026/2027 winter semester. This initiative is designed to enable applicants to take a sabbatical semester at their institutions to prepare grant proposals and develop the profile of a proposed research project within the Academies’ Program. The call for applications is open to researchers with a Ph.D. or habilitation who hold a permanent position at a research institution in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2026.
