Neuropharmacologist Prof. Dr. Rohini Kuner
has been awarded the 2026Prize Medicine for her groundbreaking work in the field of pain research. Together with her team at Heidelberg University
, the scientist is investigating how the nervous system changes in response to sustained stimuli and how this leads to chronic pain. This research provides new avenues for more targeted and long-term effective therapies. Rohini Kuner is the Executive Director of the Institute of Pharmacology at Heidelberg University’s Faculty of Medicine. The award is endowed with 300,000 euros and is presented by the Jung Foundation for Science.
