Call for Entries: Academy Awards 2027

Exceptional achievement deserves recognition. That is why the State Academy of Baden-Württemberg, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, awards annual science prizes for outstanding scientific achievements in both the natural sciences and the humanities.
The prizes are intended for early-career researchers and are awarded either for work conducted at a research institution in Baden-Württemberg or to researchers currently engaged in scientific work at a Baden-Württemberg institution. Each prize is endowed with €10,000.
The prizes will Academy of Sciences and Humanities during the 2027 annual celebration of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities . Upon receiving the award, the recipients will also become members of the Academy College of the Young Academy | HAdW for a period of five years. Members of the Academy, as well as senior administrators of all academic institutions at universities and all non-university research institutes in the state of Baden-Württemberg, are eligible to submit nominations.
Self-nominations are not permitted.

In 2027, the Academy will present the following awards:

Academy Prize for works in the humanities and social sciences. Works that adopt a broader perspective—as is typical of postdoctoral dissertations, for example—are particularly eligible.
Prize for works in the natural sciences, particularly chemistry and biology.
Prize for works on social and cultural changes with contemporary relevance, particularly technological transformations.
Ecology Prize of the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation for work across all disciplines addressing environmental problems and their solutions.
Prize for a researcher who has built bridges between scientific cultures in their academic work, particularly between the natural sciences and the humanities.
Prize for work in the fields of history, society, and culture.
HectorPrize for early-career researchers with outstanding publications in computer science and robotics.
Prize for multidisciplinary collaboration between mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering.
