Prof. Dr. Klaus Fiedler (died May 12, 2026)

After studying psychology at the University of Giessen, Klaus Fiedler began his academic career there as a research assistant. He earned his doctorate in 1979 and his habilitation in 1984. He was subsequently appointed adjunct professor of methodology and social cognition and served in this capacity from 1987 to 1990. In 1990, Klaus Fiedler moved to the University of Mannheim as a professor (C3) of microsociology and social psychology, before being appointed to a C4 professorship in social psychology at the University of Heidelberg in 1992, a position he held until 2013. In addition, he served as dean of the Faculty of Behavioral and Empirical Cultural Studies from 2011 to 2015. He has received numerous awards for his scholarly achievements, including thePrize in 2000Prize the GermanPrize. In 2004–2005, he served as Theodor Heuss Professor at the New School for Social Research in New York. In 2009, he was also awarded thePrize German Research Foundation (DFG).
