Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten will speak on the topic of "Genetic Research on Pathogens Following COVID-19."

About the person: Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten(external link) is a physician and virologist. His areas of research include viral diversity, ecology, and epidemiology across the various stages of evolution, from a pathogen’s natural reservoir to its global spread among humans. He heads the Institute of Virology at Charité in Berlin. He gained recognition for his work related to the coronavirus pandemic. 

The Heidelberg Academy Lecture was established in 2009 by the Association for the Promotion of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities .V. to mark the Academy’s 100th anniversary and has since been funded and organized annually by the Association and the Schmeil Foundation. World-renowned scholars are regularly invited to Heidelberg for the event.
