Lothar Ledderose has published Academy of Sciences and Humanities book *China Schreibt Anders* as part of the "Heidelberger Akademische Bibliothek" series by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities . He will now speak about it at the DAI.
At a time when China is becoming increasingly important, it is also becoming increasingly important to understand China. There is still much work to be done in this regard. Chinese writing is the most complex system of characters ever created by humankind, and a unique feature of Chinese culture. An analysis of this system helps us understand the fundamental differences in China’s education, religion, and politics.
Lothar Ledderose is a senior professor of East Asian art history at Heidelberg University. He leads a long-term project at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities the study of Buddhist stone inscriptions in China.
