Ecology Award from the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation

The Ecology Prize, donated by the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation (external link), has been awarded for many years. It honors young scientists who, regardless of their discipline, make an important contribution to the protection of nature and the environment.

The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Who can be nominated?

The prize is awarded to a young researcher for outstanding scientific work. The proposed works must have been accepted as scientific achievements by a university or research institute in the state of Baden-Württemberg and published or submitted for publication in the past two years.

The people nominated for the award should not be older than 35 years of age. If several candidates have contributed equally to the project, the award may be shared equally among them.

Who is allowed to make suggestions?
  • all members of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences
  • the management of all academic institutions at universities in Baden-Württemberg (rectorates, deaneries, executive directors, institute management)
  • the management of all non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg (executive directors)
  • Unsolicited applications are not accepted.

The prize sponsors

Prof. Dr. h. c. Viktor Dulger(external link) founded Chemie & Filter GmbH in Heidelberg in 1960. With the invention of the first electronically controlled die-cast metering pump, he laid the foundation for his life's work. The metering pump, which was given the name "ProMinent," also gave the entire company its current name, ProMinent GmbH(external link).

Today, the company(external link) specializes in water treatment and fluid dosing technology. The company is present in over 100 countries and is still family-owned.

Viktor Dulger († 2016) and his wife Sigrid Dulger († 2023) established the Viktor & Sigrid Dulger Foundation in 1995. The foundation promotes young scientists, and art and culture are also important causes for the foundation.

The award winners

The Viktor and Sigrid Dulger Foundation Ecology Prize is intended to promote scientific work in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering that deals with environmental problems and their solutions.
